Basket Weaving

ECO Artists in residence Richard & Judy Wolski will lead two basket weaving workshops offering participants the opportunity to turn some of our regions noxious weeds into objects of beauty and utility.

basketsJudy has been involved in craft making for many years, using normally discarded materials, and recycling what she can:“The thrill of making something beautiful from a material which is typically thrown away and wasted, is both satisfying and exciting”.

Their passion for the protection of our native bush and its inhabitants has led Richard and Judy to want to help rid the bush of invasive weeds. They decided to try using these weeds, which are choking our bush for their basket weaving: “The best part about using these menacing weeds for our craft is that we are helping to improve our bush environment while making a work of art which is both lovely and useful”.

Bamboo Sculptures

Each of the thematic areas will have a custom made bamboo sculpture representing the theme for that area. The sculptures have been hand crafted by the bamboo crew. In addition to these the crew has also helped create a beautiful entrance to the festival site and have created the 'ideas tree' where everyone will be asked to take home the ideas they want to commit to or share their idea for a cleaner greener future.

INFO Graphic Displays

Third year USC graphic design students Leona Fietz and Maria Radun have designed a series of intepretative displays that are posted around the festival. "This is our first major design brief we have taken on independently. It has been a fun and exciting experience and I can't wait to see the final result up on the day."
