What's on in the Transport Area?

On average Australian cars use 11.5 l petrol per 100 kilometers and produce 265 grams of carbon emission per kilometer.

A growing tree is capable of harvesting approximately 100 kilograms of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere each year. An average Australian car will produce 3,967 kilograms of carbon emissions per year (requiring 40 trees to be offset).

A return flight from Brisbane to Bali produces 2,511 kilogram of carbon emissions (the equivalent of driving an average Australian car for eight months).

Transport accounts for 10% of Australia's Green House Gas Emissions. The automative industry has made significant moves towards delivering cleaner vehicles with an increasing number of electric and hybrid vehciles coming on the market. In the transport area you will be able to browse different forms of transport that produce less than 140 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometer.
