Sunshine Coast Light Rail 20/20 Vision On 24 August 2011 council resolved to deliver a sleek, modern light rail service to the Sunshine Coast and to establish a Sunshine Coast Light Rail Taskforce with representation from council, business and the community. Council invites you to have your say on the light rail project and will be developing online forums and consultation early in 2012. * The Queensland Government has finalised the Queensland Regionalisation Strategy – a plan to ensure that the benefits of growth are shared by all Queenslanders. * The draft Economic Transition Strategy(the Strategy) for North Stradbroke Island is now available for your review and input. * Draft State Planning Regulatory Provision – Particular Waste Management Activities on Existing Landfills To achieve the target of halving waste to landfill by 2020, new waste management and resource recovery sites are needed – including transfer stations and recyclable materials sorting and separating facilities. The approved draft State Planning Regulatory Provision – Particular Waste Management Activities on Existing Landfills (SPRP), will be effective while public consultation is carried out and submissions about the provisions are being considered. Public submissions are invited on the draft SPRP until 27 January 2012. The draft SPRP, details on how to make a submission and a handy fact sheet are available at <www.derm.qld.gov.au/waste>. |
