Walks

Glasshouse 1Whether you prefer short strolls along the coast or around villages, more strenuous bush walks, or longer treks with overnight camping, such as the 58km Great Walk through the Blackall Range, the Sunshine Coast has something to offer to anyone.

Mapleton 1There are a number of great guide books and resources for walking in the region, see the ‘recommended reading’ links on this page for some suggestions, as well as yearly walking events, such as in August/September, when a walking festival is held in the Sunshine Coast’s hinterland. Your local tourist information centre will be able to help you with the latest information about this and other similar events.

We also asked the authors of the walking books a few questions and here are their answers.

Watch out for our Competition and win a walking guidebook!

We have two books of Best Village & Coastal Walks of the Sunshine Coast (by Dianne McLay and Virginia Balfour); and two ebooks on a CD: one entitled Short Walks on the Sunshine Coast, and the other Sunshine Coast Bushwalks (by Claudia Glas-Williams, Elizabeth Vacher, and Heather Powell), all kindly donated by the authors, to give away to four lucky winners. Therefore we will hold a Competition in January 2013, so come back regularly to our website to not miss out!
