Festival Vision
Globally mankind is consuming renewable resources at a rate that requires 1.6 planets to reproduce them, we are emitting more carbon than the biosphere can handle and we are using mineral resources as if they will never run out.
Our patterns of consumption and our means of production are placing unsustainable demands on our planet, our water, our atmosphere and the diversity of flora and fauna that inhabit it. With the global population set to rise to 9 Billion people by 2050 and the rampant rise of consumerism in countries such as India and China these issues are set to worsen significantly over the next decades.
The festival partners firmly believe that a 'business as usual' approach to living our lives and running our economy will stretch the planet beyond breaking point within our lifetime. We are also firmly of the view that there are alternatives to the current mode of production and consumption that can protect our lifestyles, generate propserity and look after our planet.
This festival seeks to showcase ideas that will empower you to make choices about when and where to reduce your environmental impacts without compromising your lifestyle. It seeks to showcase some of the exciting products and services that are coming onto the market and radically redefine how we do business. Check out Clothing Exchange - the answer to your fashion and finance worries, ECES a rainwater purifying pavement, or Century Car Battery Recycling.
