World Environment Day 9th June @ the University of the Sunshine Coast from 10am- 4pmplanning is well under way and the office is abuzz with excitement. Follow the links to check out the new Website and like us on FaceBook page. As with all successful events, they would not be possible without a wonderful team of volunteers. We are still looking for volunteers for set-up on Saturday and a range of jobs on the Sunday, so if you would like to volunteer, learn new skills, have fun with like minded people and be proactive in educating the community about sustainable living choices then got to our volunteer page or E: [email protected]  At the end of Sunday we will be selling 200 bales of hay @ $3 each, which must be picked up from 4.00pm. Stockland has now submitted it's Caloundra South Final Public Environment Report (PER) to the the Federal Environment dept. Environment Minister Tony Burke now has 40 business days to make his decision on this massive development within the environmentally sensitive Pumicstone Passage catchment. View report here


Symphony By the Sea: 11th May 2013
The 7th Annual Symphony by the Sea Concert  will be performed by the Sunshine Coast Symphony Orchestra on Saturday.11th May  at the Coolum Civic Centre 2- 4.30pm.
Hosted by Development Watch and Sunshine Coast Environment Council  this event includes complimentary wine and cheese, and afternoon tea.
There are only a few tickets left.  Pre purchase tickets are $20 and Concession $18. Tickets at the door are $25 and $22.

As we move into the last two weeks to try to stop – or at the very least slow down – the changes to the Vegetation Management Act, there is a new page on Facebook that we need people to like and share with their ‘friends’, check out: ‘Don’t Bring Back The Bulldozers’ The main point of this FB page is to share information about the proposed law changes but also to get people to go to the new stand-alone webpage that is also called “Don’t Bring Back The Bulldozers”  where you can go to send a letter to Premier Campbell Newman.

   Beverage Container Recycling Grants

Applications are now open for a community grant of up to $10,000 for local projects that will help increase the recycling of beverage containers. For more info go here.


Balance-Unbalance 2013 International Conference will take place from 31 May to 2 June within the UNESCO Noosa Biosphere Reserve- at CQUniversity Noosa, with satellite events conducted at The J Theatre (Noosa), and Lake Cootharaba as part of Floating Land 2013.
