Fire Information Session & Fire Management Planning Workshop | Sunshine Coast
with Queensland Fire and Biodiversity Consortium
DO YOU HAVE A PLAN FOR BUSHFIRE?
Are you bushfire prepared?
FREE information sessions for residents of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.
You are invited to come along to a free Property Fire Information Session and a Fire Management Planning Workshop to learn about Bushfire, fire preparedness and to create a fire management plan for your property.
The Property Fire Information Session will cover fire safety, fire as a land management tool, Local laws, vegetation management, Local disaster arrangements, agencies roles and responsibilities, and fire ecology.
The Fire Management Planning Workshop will provide information to landholders and guidance on creating individual property fire management plans. These plans will aim to mitigate the risks associated with bushfires, with a specific focus on helping communities in safeguarding individual properties. Maps will be provided for properties and plans will be drawn together with neighbouring land managers.
Representatives from the Queensland Fire and Biodiversity Consortium, Barung Landcare, Sunshine Coast Council, Rural Fire Service Queensland, and Queensland Parks and Wildlife Services, will share information about their roles and offer advice about planning for the approaching fire season.
Minimum requirements to attend the Fire Management Planning workshop are that attendees must attend the Fire Information Session, your property must be in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland (in the Sunshine Coast LGA) area, and be over 1.5 hectares, unless the property is in close proximity to or adjoining a very large natural area, or you are working in collaboration with adjoining neighbours.
