Barung's popular weekend-long Gardens for Wildlife - Open Native Garden Trail is back for another year!
This year, three of our dedicated Gardens for Wildlife members and one staff member will be opening the gates to their gardens and showcasing their evolving native gardens for wildlife via an intimate guided tour.
Hear about the ways in which each member has incorporated a range of native plants into their garden design as well as a diversity of features which cater to the needs of a variety of wildlife using the space for habitat.
The way the weekend has been designed is to allow for ample time to travel between locations so that no one misses out on a tour. You can book one garden tour, multiple tours or all of them over the weekend.
Barung Landcare will be transporting attendees from a central location in Maleny as some sites have limited space for parking. All logistics will be arranged in advance to the weekend to ensure everyone’s needs are met.
Please note this is a members-only event, it is free, but donations are welcomed. Donations for this event will go towards expanding and maintaing our own garden for wildlife at our native plant nursery which welcomes visitors all year around. Barung's garden for wildlife is a living wonderland with a purpose - to educate visitors, for seed collection of our important local species and of course, for the sheer enjoyment of abundant flora and fauna. Projects on the horizon include a wheelchair accessible native wetland, steps from the nursery into the garden and educational signage to inspire and connect visitors to the landscape.
Places are limited and bookings are essential. You'll find a description of each garden and the ability to register for tours via the button below.
