The Sunshine Coast Environment Council (SCEC) is privileged to be the umbrella organisation for over 60 Member Groups working across the region from Bribie Island in the south to Cooloola in the north, across the hinterlands and along the coast. The tireless efforts of these amazing people contribute significantly to the enhancement and protection of the natural environment and liveability of the region.

Manduka Community Settlement Cooperative
Manduka is situated on over 150 acres of land 6 kilometres outside Maleny.
It is home to 15 adults and their children. The residents believe in living simply,
sharing resources, reaching agreement through consensus, and managing their land
in an ecologically sustainable way. They care for 63 ha of natural habitat, 35 of which are
a Nature Refuge. The rest has been re-vegetated and weeded since 1979.

Take Action for Pumicestone Passage (TAPP)
TAPP was formed in December 2010 with the major concern for the health of the
Pumicestone Passage and it’s catchment, potentially at risk from
the development of Caloundra South and the ULDA ‘takeover ‘of the project.
After petitioning for an EPBC Assessment for the development and presentation of
13555 signatures to Parliament in March 2011, they become incorporated.
