Michael Kane has worked for more than 20 years as a community organiser in the Australian environmental movement. He’s had the privilege to work for Lock the Gate, Clean Air Queensland Solar Citizens, Farmers for Climate Action and most recently the Mackay Conservation Group.
Community organising has consistently been at the heart of his campaigning. He finds it particularly rewarding to organise in conservative communities and has learned, “We have much in common with groups that haven’t traditionally allied with the environmental movement. Winning in a genuinely community-led campaign can be the sweetest victory of all!”
Michael recently relocated to the Sunshine Coast Region and is studying a degree in law with an elective focus on the environment, human rights and international law.
