Namba Creek BushCare Action Bee Saturday - Nov 18

Pretty flowers.jpg
G'day all. Here are some of the habitat forming plants we've planted in recent months at our "wetlands" BushCare site Namba Creek,  beside the Model Rail Park in Nambour. Pretty for the humans as well as habitat for the native animals. That's our main aim in all that we do.
We'll be back there this coming Saturday 18 November starting at 7am.
We'll have some more plants to install in blank areas, we'll be watering in about 4 places if we don't get lots of rain before then and of course there will be a bit of weed control to do through the site. One particular species currently growing like crazy is Bluetop AKA Blue Billy Goat Weed (Ageratum houstonianum), and we'll hopefully get rid of that before many seeds form.
If you'd like to join in the satisfaction of helping, come in "long everything" bush protective clothing including boots/shoes and a hat.
  • We'll have all the tools needed, but bring your own favourites if you wish.
  • Access is to come through the main gate to the Model Railway Park, off Florence St Nambour and you'll see us assembling.
  • After that fun is finished we'll assemble at about 9am for that very welcome cuppa.
This will be the last Bee here for 2023.
It's been an interesting year for BushCare here, with our activities being centred around a wetland that seems to be mostly dry this year. Makes access easy, so it's not all bad!
