Premier Newman must publicly Support Renewable Energy in Queensland-QCC
According to Queensland Conservation (QCC), recommendations by the Commonwealth’s Expert Review Panel, to reduce or remove the Renewable Energy Target (RET) are an attack on the future of Queensland, on small business, on jobs, on the cost of living and on a cleaner environment.
‘We call upon Campbell Newman to publicly repudiate these recommendations and support the retention of the Renewable Energy Target.’ said Toby Hutcheon, Executive Director of QCC ‘We call upon every single Queensland parliamentarian (Federal and State) to publicly confirm their support for the retention of the Renewable Energy Target. Tell your constituents today that you support renewable energy and the target.’
‘Queensland is the solar capital of Australia with over 330,000 homes with solar of their roofs (nearly 25% of all homes). This investment creates business and jobs, it reduces electricity bills and it supports a clean energy future.’ The renewable energy target is about nation building. It is about a new economy and new jobs. It is about a clean environment and safe climate.
In Germany, where the target currently stands at 45% by 2025, having been routinely increased over the last two decades, there are over 370,000 people employed in the industry.
Queensland has a natural advantage as the sunshine state, a fact recognised by the people of Queensland who, in the 30 Year Queensland Plan called ‘for renewable energy to become the norm.’ The Renewable Energy Target is the way to get there.
