At the Sunshine Coast Environment Council (SCEC), we believe that an informed, connected community is one of the most powerful forces of environmental protection. For more than four decades, we’ve worked to engage, educate and empower people of all ages to understand, care for and take action to protect the Sunshine Coast’s natural environment.

Workshops and events

SCEC delivers workshops, talks, programs and accessible resources that deepen awareness of our region’s ecosystems, biodiversity, climate challenges and emerging environmental issues. By connecting people with nature, we help communities appreciate its value and recognise the role they can play in safeguarding it.

Connecting people with each other and nature

We bring people together through events, campaigns and community-led projects that build meaningful connections between people, and between people and nature. Our goal is to transform awareness into impactful action, encouraging stewardship that protects the landscapes, species and natural values that define our region.

Shared Responsibility

Community engagement is more than education, it’s about nurturing a shared sense of responsibility and care. SCEC creates opportunities for everyone to participate in protecting and celebrating the Sunshine Coast’s environment.

Your involvement truly matters. From habitat restoration and citizen science to educational activities with SCEC or any of our Member Groups, there are countless ways to connect, contribute and help protect the natural treasures of our region.
