Maple St Co-op Workshop, Backyard Biodiversity - Belonging to the Web of Life. 10am - 11.30am @ Community Garden, 37 Maple St. Maleny
Join us for an interactive 90 min workshop and discussion on backyard biodiversity. We'll explore what it means to truly relate to the land we live on, why biodiversity matters, and how the health of our soil, our gardens, and our local ecology is more connected to our own wellbeing than most of us realise.
The first part of the workshop takes a philosophical look at our relationship with the natural world and why shifting that perspective can be genuinely transformative. The second part gets practical, offering you concrete, accessible steps you can take to make your own backyard more alive, more diverse, and more welcoming to the creatures that share it with us.
What does it really mean to belong to the environment rather than manage it? Why does making our gardens hospitable to wildlife matter? And how deeply is that connected with our health? Bookings here.

Currimundi Catchment Care Group - Bancroft's Red Gum Environmental Reserve Walk
Explore Bancroft’s Red Gum Environmental Reserve on a self-guided walk showcasing the transformation of degraded grazing land into a thriving Wallum ecosystem. Over eight years, 18,000 native seedlings were planted by community volunteers, with the site now naturally regenerating into surrounding protected areas.
Discover before-and-after insights that highlight the power of community-led restoration, with CCCG volunteers and the Wildlife Preservation Society of Qld sharing knowledge on native species and conservation. This event demonstrates how restoring native vegetation at the urban edge supports biodiversity and climate, and builds a more resilient future.
Please wear suitable footwear for slightly wet sections of the path, and bring to bring insect spray, for mosquitoes. Participants can receive a free native seedling and go in the draw to win a major prize, with a complimentary sausage sizzle and refreshments provided. Maple St Co-op - Backyard Biodiversity - Building Wildlife Habitats Family Workshop, 10am - 11.30am @ Community Garden, 37 Maple St. Maleny
Join us for a hands-on family workshop in the Maple St Community Garden. We will be exploring the hidden world of backyard wildlife, beginning by looking at the many ways a garden can offer shelter — from rock piles and log stacks to leaf litter and water dishes — and why creating habitat matters for the broader ecology of our local environment.
Then we roll up our sleeves and learn how to build one ourselves! Together we will create our own native bee hotel and see how to build a box for a sugar glider or a phascogale. A wonderful opportunity for children and adults alike to connect with nature and leave with something real to show for it. Bookings here.
